Do you also have the compelling urge to create videos in English to reach a wider audience?

Do you feel comfortable creating content in your Native Language but are worried that you’d be lost in translation?

Well, this is the common hurdle that every “aspiring” content creator faces. (That’s what we think). But that’s quite the same dilemma for established content creators as well. Once they’ve created content in one language, they do not want to create in other languages and alienate their existing audience.

Now, to keep your existing audience engaged and also gain a wider audience, you can translate your subtitles into foreign languages.

This is the same technique that OTT giants like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and others do. Create in one language and translate into another.

But, first of all, how does this actually work?

What Are Foreign Language Subtitles?

Foreign language subtitles are the texts or dialogues of a video clip that appears at the bottom of the screen, but in a different language.

For example, if you’ve created your video in English and want to add subtitles in Chinese to reach the Chinese audience — then that’s called Foreign Language Subtitles.

Back in the days, Foreign Language Subtitles were manually created by human translators. Corporates or film production houses would hire multi-linguists to translate their videos into foreign languages.

Generate Accurate Subtitles in Foreign Language

But it’s 2024, and such repetitive and boring tasks can be automated easily with AI.

Translating the subtitles into foreign languages could be a little tricky thing because the AI Subtitle Generator or Subtitle Translator should not only translate the words but also capture the right emotions and meaning.

Why do you need Multi-language Subtitles?

This should be obvious by now – creating foreign language subtitles can help you with:

  • Reaching a wider audience
  • Expand your viewership across multiple countries
  • Enhance your video SEO

The penetration of social media is so intense that you can reach the nook and corner of the world has created a need for regional content.

In 2024, adding subtitles in foreign languages is not enough. Adding them with the right meaning and context is important as well.

If you’re a social media content creator who creates videos and posts them in the wild, then you need to be very very careful of multi-language subtitles. Because your videos can cross the borders right after you post them and one culturally inappropriate caption might deteriorate your brand.

So, how do you add “accurate” Foreign Language Subtitles? You’d need a reliable AI Subtitle Generator that generates subtitles and also translates them into a foreign language.

How to add Subtitles in Foreign Languages?

In this blog, let’s explore how you can add subtitles in foreign languages using the Vmaker AI Subtitle Generator in 5 steps.

Step 1: Login & Upload

After logging in, click on the Edit Video button and select the Manual Edit option.

Step 3: Customize your Subtitles

Once the Subtitles are generated, you can see the editing space on the left side of the screen and the subtitles track in the timeline as shown in the screenshot below.

Customize your Subtitles

Now, you can add some colors to your Subtitles by changing the subtitle styles using the 100+ presets and viral styles available in Vmaker.

Subtitle presets

You can pick from any of these Subtitle presets and use the one that suits your video perfectly. Using the Vmaker AI subtitle generator you can:

  • Pick any style from 100+ Preset Styles available
  • Manually change the text styles, fonts, effects, and animations
  • Choose a style from Viral Styles that are the most trending styles on social media currently.

And that’s it! Within a few minutes, you’ve successfully translated your subtitles in any language as needed.

If you want to learn more about adding subtitles to your videos, then you should check out our recent YouTube tutorial on adding subtitles.

But if you already have a video readily waiting in your library, upload it on Vmaker and translate the most accurate subtitles in minutes.

But what if you want to translate the already-generated subtitles?

Vmaker has an option for that as well. All you have to do is click on the Translate button at the top in the Subtitles sidebar. Then, you can pick the desired language from the list of 100+ languages available in Vmaker AI. In a second or two, Vmaker AI will translate your subtitles to perfection.

FAQs:

How do I make subtitles in a different language?

To add subtitles in a different language, you either have to manually translate the subtitles or use an AI Subtitle Generator which can do the job for you. Hiring a human translator/multilingual artist might not be cost-effective for many. So, we’d suggest using a reliable translator like Vmaker AI to create subtitles in foreign languages.

How do I convert subtitles to English on a video?

If you’ve already generated subtitles in another language, then it’s easy to translate those subtitles into English using Vmaker AI. Vmaker AI subtitle generator can translate the already-generated subtitles. Along with that, it also has options to customize the color, font, and style of the subtitles.

How do I change my captions from Spanish to English?

To change your captions from Spanish to English, you need an AI Multilingual Subtitle Generator like Vmaker AI video editor. Upload your video, click on the Subtitles icon on the bottom left corner, and click on the Translate button at the top. This helps you to easily convert your Spanish subtitles into English.

Do you want to create a simple walkthrough of your presentation into a not-so-boring screen recording video? A computer and reliable screen recording software are all that you need.

However, no matter how easy, sometimes, even the pros create screen recording videos that are far from the best.

So, here are 10 tips that will help you create easy screen recording videos in minutes!

10 Tips For Screen Recording That You Need To Know in 2023

  • Prepare a script or create a rough outline of what you’re planning to record
  • Choose the screen recording software and do a mock run-up
  • Decide on the resolution and size of the recording
  • Make sure you’ve enabled the Full Screen option in case you juggle multiple tabs
  • Avoid external disturbances and noises while recording
  • Choose the right microphone and webcam for your recording
  • Include the screen annotation tools and webcam overlay
  • Avoid using the control menu and switch to hotkeys to avoid extra elements on the screen while recording
  • Add quick intro and conclusion to your recordings to add extra clarity
  • Edit out and trim portions that are extra in the screen recording

1. Prepare a script

Screen recordings are done for a lot of different reasons. Even if you’re planning to create 5 min long screen recording videos, a script will:

  • Help you stick to the video objective
  • Create room for you to reflect and understand if you’re sticking to the topic
  • Give you a balanced timeline for both screen and webcam

But, if you are one of the last-minute-unsung-heroes, then create a rough outline for the script—a simple bullet point list or notes—that help you to jump from one sub-topic to the other.

2. Choose the screen recording software and do a mock run-up

This is an essential step because having the right toolkit can help you save a lot of time. Remember, the easiest way to create a stunning screen recording video is to choose a tool that would take away 90% of the work off your shoulders.

Here’s a mock recording of the Vmaker tutorial video before recording the screen footage

Decide on the screen recording software in which you use to create the screen recording video. Ideally, the best screen recording software comes with features that will let you record the screen, camera, or both simultaneously with audio along with screen annotation, noise cancellation, and editor options.

Once you’re done deciding on the screen recording software and then installing the software, it’s important to quickly run through the settings and record a mock video to familiarise yourself with and check if everything is working well.

☛ Bonus Read: How to use Screen Recorder – The Ultimate Guide

By recording a mock video, you’ll be able to confidently talk while screen recording and also feel comfortable reading a script while looking into the camera.

Luckily you don’t have to worry about deciding on the screen recording software. Vmaker is the ideal solution for anyone looking to screen record.

3. Decide on the resolution, size of the recording, and other recording settings

Screen recording can be done in two different ways: You can either record the screen alone or record the screen and webcam together.

First, decide on which type of screen recording you want to do. The next step would be to precisely record what you want to record.

type of screen recording

It is important to share only the relevant and necessary information. So decide on whether you want to record the entire screen or a tab or even a particular section of the screen.

entire screen or a tab or even a particular section

4. Enable the ‘Full Screen’ option in case you juggle multiple tabs

Again, the script will help you to figure our if you have to juggle the multiple screens while recording your screen or stay on one. So, in case you have the necessity to switch to more than one tab, or even window, then make sure to disable the Current Tab option and select the ‘Full screen’ mode like shown in the screenshot below:

recording your screen

5. Avoid external disturbances while recording

Identify the ideal location for recording the video. Make sure that there are no disturbances from external sources while recording. If there are disturbances it could really hinder the video flow and might require a lot of editing later.

Vmaker’s noise cancellation feature ensures that your screen recordings are void of even small background noises and disturbances.

6. Choose the right microphone and webcam for your recording

Microphones and webcam play a huge role in deciding the quality of your screen recording and it is crucial to have a high-quality microphone and webcam for recording videos.

It is advisable to not use the internal microphones in laptops. At the same time, there isn’t a need to invest heavily in a professional microphone as a very basic one that comes with an earphone itself could do the job.

Likewise, Mac users need not worry about the webcam as the built-in one offers an unparalleled webcam recording experience. If you’re a Windows user then you might have to consider upgrading your webcam to a good enough one to create a good video.

Ensure that the recording software has the option to connect external microphones and webcam. Vmaker enables users to choose from different microphones and webcams that are connected and made available.

7. Include screen annotations, mouse emphasis, and webcam overlay features

Screen annotation, mouse emphasis, and movable webcam overlay allow users to make the screen recording engaging and interactive. However, overusing the tools will create an unpleasant viewing experience.

Annotating the screen create an engaging experince to the audience but keep them whereever necessary. Constantly hovering the mouse on the screen and clicking makes it difficult for the viewer to understand what is being conveyed on screen. Overusing is no good.

Screen annotations while recording a screen annotation video
Wisely use the screen annotation feature

Similarly, screen drawing or annotations could also be a great way of creating engaging videos but it is very important to use it wisely.

Ensure the webcam overlay is positioned smartly

Position your webcam overlay at the right place:

If you’re recording with a webcam overlay then the position of webcam overlay plays a key role. The webcam overlay on the side of the screen mimics an in-person experience for the audience. However, it should not overshadow the screen that you’re presenting.

To tackle this practical difficulty, Vamker has introduced the option to resize or reshape the webcam overlay. But if you have a lot of white space in the background, then play along with different frames that Vmaker has for the webcam overlay.

8. Avoid using the control menu and switch to hotkeys to avoid extra elements on the recording

Most of the recorders come with a control menu that has shortcuts to pause, finish, delete the recording, and much more. But each and every click on the control menu drags the focus of the users away from the mainframe.

The best way to avoid losing the user’s focus is by disabling the recording menu and using hotkeys while recording. By doing so you can freely pause recordings and finish recording without distracting the user.

Vmaker comes with hotkeys and also the option to disable the recording menu ensuring users can record videos without the recording menu.

9. Add a quick intro and conclusion to your recordings to add extra clarity

An intro and outro to the video are more like a teaser and post credits! A quick intro can be a compilation of small video snippets or a dedicated inrroduction to give a sneak peak of what the audience can expect from the video.

Similarly, an outro can help you in two ways: Firstly, it can be a wrap-up or a summary of your whole video; Secondly, an outro can also be a prelude to the next video you might record. Keeping your audience in loop is the first step to stay on top their head.

10. Edit out and add creatives automatically with AI

ai video editor

No matter how focused you are while recording videos there are bound to be instances where there are few pauses and breaks. Once you finish recording the video, edit the sections that you feel are unnecessary or extra.

ou can use our very own AI video editing tool to turn your raw video footage into publish-ready content with just one click. All you have to do is upload your raw footage and select the kind of visual enhancements or elements you want to add to your video like Subtitles, B-rolls, Background Music, Text Animations, etc— Vmaker AI will automatically add them for you.

Not just AI, it also comes with an intuitive timeline. So, you can easily edit the parts of the video as you like.

Being aware of the actionable tips like these can save you a lot of time before and after your recording session.

How To Make Educational Videos For YouTube https://www.vmaker.com/blog/youtube-educational-videos/ https://www.vmaker.com/blog/youtube-educational-videos/#respond Thu, 15 Sep 2022 14:10:30 +0000 https://web.vmaker.com/blog/?p=9518 An Ultimate Guide You Will Need To Create Amazing Videos On YouTube

Over the past few years, YouTube has become easy and free access to knowledge. No matter what you want to learn about, there are a bunch of resourceful videos available on YouTube.

Now, the most feasible way to make your educational videos stand out on YouTube is by enhancing the video experience for the audience. In this blog, we’ll walk you through the exact steps to make things easier for you.

Types Of Educational Videos To Create On YouTube

There’s no one way to create educational videos on YouTube. You don’t have to limit yourself to the same types of videos. On the other hand, finding the right video format that helps you convey your message to the audience is the primary goal.

If you look up the stats for the most watched educational video on YouTube, you will find “The Life-changing Self-Education Video By Sandeep Maheshwari”. It bagged over 64M views as of August 2022.

This video is the recording of the live speech he had delivered once and this format is not feasible to mimic for most of us.

So, by throwing the stats in the backseat, we’ll look into some of the easy yet results-oriented types of educational videos you can create on YouTube:

  • Animation videos
  • Instructor-led videos
  • Screencasts
  • Presentation recordings
  • Mixed Media
  • Whiteboard videos

Animation videos and whiteboard videos create the same level of impact—deliver the information through animated characters and sketches respectively. If you want to learn about it, here are some useful resources:

As the name explains, Mixed Media video has a mixture of video types like screencasts, Instructor-led, animations, and so on. This could be the best option if you want to explain a complex topic to your audience.

Instructor-led videos are the go-to video kind for Subject-matter experts. When you know the subject like the back of your hand, webcam recording software can help you deliver high-quality videos. More on this in a bit.

Note: Educational videos are not necessarily limited to school/college. It need not be about a topic from textbooks. If you educate your audience, break down concepts, and help them understand how to work/do/achieve something—no matter how trivial or complex—then you’re on the right track to creating educational videos.

Here’s our heads-up…

Points To Remember Before Creating Educational Videos

1. Define Your Objectives

Before scripting down the educational video, define your objectives. This ties up straight back to the CTA of your YouTube video (YES, “Like, comment, & share this video; Subscribe to our channel, Press the bell icon for more such videos…” is not the only CTA of every video)

If you have an online course, e-book, consultation services, or a community, then you can redirect the audience of this video to your owned assets. So, define the objective of the video before & that will become your primary CTA.

Collaborating with higher education marketing agencies can help refine these objectives, ensuring your content effectively reaches and resonates with the academic community.

This YouTube video by Alissa Rose is a classic example:

2. Keep the video length short

If you’re a newbie on YouTube, you might have to stick to short videos initially. Because short videos work better than lengthy videos. The optimal length would be ten minutes[2]. Always remember that keeping videos short does not mean cutting back on the quality of the video but keeping them snackable. And that brings us to the next point—

3. Start A Video Series For Complex Topics

Educational videos often involve complex topics that you need to break down into several videos. Now, you can create “Playlists” by combining videos in this series. This makes your channel more discoverable.

4. Stick to one topic. Always.

While crafting creative assets for Youtube videos on a complex topic or the one that you’re passionate about, it’s tempting to talk about a lot of things. But, YouTube videos should have one goal—deliver value, educate your audience, and stay on top of their mind as the go-to channel for more videos.

☛ Bonus Guide: Step by Step Guide How to Record YouTube Videos

Roadmap To Create Educational Videos For Your YouTube Audience

This roadmap will tell you how to stand out from the crowd while creating educational videos.

1. Know Your Audience

Understanding your audience means paying attention to:

  • Your regular visitors
  • People who engage with your videos on YouTube and other social media platforms,
  • Watch hours
  • The bounce rate of your videos

This will give you a flavor of what your audience would love to see from your channel.

Engaging with your audience across multiple platforms can also enhance your visibility. A social media marketing agency can help execute this strategy effectively. For instance, using Instagram to share highlights or teasers of your educational videos can attract a broader audience and help you get Instagram followers who are likely interested in your YouTube content as well.

2. Finalize The Video Type

There are plenty of options. So, once you brainstorm different content ideas for your channel, categorize them into the types of videos you will later create. This will help you to plan the script and get started with the video.

3. Create A Storyboard

While creating YouTube videos, creating a storyboard is nothing but laying out the plan that stands as a backbone for your video script. It helps you to structure the video script in a way your audience would understand and give you their undivided attention.

4. Choose Your Toolkit

The key ingredient to creating a video that looks appealing and also achieves its objective is to pick the right tool. A tool that would help you nail the video content creation game. A tool that you can rely on.

The DIY content creation tools are here for the same reason. You can pick your video type, and the tool, and start creating. If you choose to go with the mixed media (the most sought-after) video type, you can choose tools like Vmaker to create a perfectly balanced animation & screencasts video.

With Vmaker, you can record your screen, webcam, and both. This is the easiest way to create instructor-led videos. Along with that, Vmaker’s video suite comes with a power-packed AI video editor that allows you to create and edit mixed media videos in minutes.

5. Start Creating Your Videos

The final step is NOT the most difficult one if you managed to crack the first three steps. Once you pick your tool, and the type of video, all that’s pending is to hit the recording button to record a video. If you’ve chosen the instructor-led videos, then you can record the webcam as you walk them through the presentation/screen that you’re sharing.

6. Enhance with AI Subtitles, Transitions, and Effects

Enhancing your educational videos can significantly elevate the viewer experience by incorporating various elements such as subtitles, transitions, and effects. Using a YouTube video editor alongside an AI subtitle generator allows you to add subtitles that improve accessibility for those who are deaf or hard of hearing and help non-native speakers understand your content.

Smooth transitions between scenes make your videos look professional and keep your audience engaged. Visual effects can highlight important information and add creativity, while audio enhancements ensure clear and high-quality sound.

Additionally, animations and graphics can illustrate complex concepts, making them easier to grasp. By integrating these enhancements, your educational videos will look and sound better, providing a richer learning experience for your audience.

So, if you’re going to create a mixed media video, then here’s what you need to do.

How to Record X (Twitter) Spaces On Desktop & Phone https://www.vmaker.com/blog/how-to-record-twitter-spaces-with-audio/ https://www.vmaker.com/blog/how-to-record-twitter-spaces-with-audio/#respond Tue, 30 Aug 2022 16:45:14 +0000 https://www.vmaker.com/blog/?p=11289 An Ultimate Guide to Record Spaces as both Host and Listeners

Did you just receive notification of your favorite X (Twitter) influencer doing a X (Twitter) Space? And is the person also talking about your favorite topic (say, the Rise of startups with unconventional ideas or Pink Floyd)?

Now, you definitely don’t want to miss this space but you might also want to re-listen to it—the same way you rewatch your favorite speakers on YouTube.

So, in this article, I’ll help you record X (Twitter) Spaces as both host and listener.

Different Methods to Record X Spaces

Ever since the rise of audio rooms like Clubhouse, X Spaces, and the audio chat spaces on LinkedIn, people are able to connect with their favorite speakers on social media and interact with them through voice

There are three ways to record X spaces audio on both desktop and mobile:

  • Opting to record X Spaces while setting it up (only the host can do it)
  • Exporting spaces audio through your X data (Again, only host’s play)
  • Using a screen recording tool to record spaces (Anybody can record the session without the host’s permission)

Important note: X Spaces, by default, is not private but any listener around the world can join and that gives them an option to record your spaces.
record twitter spaces audio

1. How To Record X Spaces As A Host:

With X’s latest update, the host can opt in for the auto-scheduling option while setting up spaces. Currently, you can set up X Spaces only on Android and iOS apps and not on the web application.

However, anybody—other than your guest/speaker can join and listen to your Spaces from the web application.

To set up the X Spaces, you need to click on the ‘+’ icon on your Android or iOS application:

set up the X Spaces

You can either create a Space or schedule it and tweet about it. Either way, you can opt in (like shown in the picture) to record the X Spaces and share the recording as a tweet later.

create a Space or schedule

2. How To Download X (Twitter) Spaces audio from the X data archive (For Hosts)

requesting for twitter spaces recording on twitter

This will be an archive of all your X data including spaces audio in a ZIP file. The data will not be available immediately but will take some time to be processed and made available. If you’re a power user then there are more chances that the data will take some more time to be available.

Drawbacks of downloading spaces audio from X data archive:

A few of the major drawbacks of using this option of downloading spaces audio:

  • Only the hosts of the Spaces will be able to download it.
  • The audio quality is also not great while downloading space audio through this method.
  • X holds this data only for a period of 30 days. So you’ll be able to only download your spaces recording that is not more than 30 days older.

Now, this is for the host. But that brings us to the next use case — how to record X spaces as a listener (& also a host)?

You can use a screen recording tool to record X spaces without being the host of it.

3. How to record X spaces using a screen recording tool

In the next few steps, we’ll be looking at how you can record spaces using the Vmaker screen recorder without having to worry about you being the host or not.

But before that let’s look at some of the Vmaker features that make it best suited for recording X spaces.

You can record using Vmaker’s application for Mac, Windows Screen Recorder, iOS, or Chrome extension. The choice is yours.

Key features that make Vmaker the best screen recorder to record X spaces:

  • Capture both your audio and speakers audio

The Vmaker recorder allows you to distinctly capture both the audio of other speakers and also yours in a clear fashion.

  • Record screen

Users will also be able to record the screen which will let them know which user is speaking. This is extremely useful as speakers generally don’t introduce themselves in a X spaces chat. You can also upload them later as a video podcast later.

X also allows users to share tweets within the spaces window which allows you to discuss the same. By screen recording, you’ll be able to capture the same as well.

X spaces with tweet sharing functionality
  • Immediate processing of the recording

The recording of spaces done through Vmaker is processed immediately and made available via a URL instantly. There are no time delays in the recording being made available irrespective of the duration of the audio.

  • Cloud storage

The recorded X spaces are available on the cloud and can be accessed in just a few clicks on the Vmaker cloud dashboard.

  • Social sharing

You can also instantly share the recording on social media, upload it to YouTube, embed it on websites.

  • Schedule the recording

With Vmaker’s Mac application, you can schedule the recording of the X Spaces as soon as you block it on your calendar.

You can choose the Schedule option in the Mac application and once you click on it, you will see the option to name and schedule the recording:

Does X share only your spaces recording?

As it stands you’ll be able to get your spaces recording only along with all your other X data and not independently. In order to just record spaces alone, you can use an external tool like Vmaker.

How to share a tweet to a X spaces chat?

You can share a tweet to a spaces chat by clicking on share tweet and then selecting share to my space. This enables you to build the conversation around the tweet.

5 Reasons Why Learning And Development (L&D) Should Not Be Your Least Priority. At least, Not Anymore. https://www.vmaker.com/blog/5-reasons-why-your-business-needs-learning-and-development/ https://www.vmaker.com/blog/5-reasons-why-your-business-needs-learning-and-development/#respond Thu, 04 Aug 2022 15:32:29 +0000 https://www.vmaker.com/blog/?p=13922 The Learning and Development (L&D) department in every organization serves as a source of knowledge. They create content that helps employees upskill and reskill. They analyze and align the learning objectives of the program with the business goals to achieve results that benefit both the organization and the employees.

In this blog, we’ll look into a few reasons why the L&D department has to prioritize learning and development and not give the backseat it has taken in the corporate world in the past decade.

1. L&D Boosts Your Employee Retention Rate

The 2021 wave of resignations taught us many things and the main takeaway is that the job market is becoming more employee-centric.

It’s a good thing. Even more so, the best thing to happen to the employees and also the organization. So, retaining the existing top talents is important and also easier than hiring new talents and training them.

retaining employee vs hiring new talents

This is not another rule that the HR world has to follow but it’s the reality of the world.

According to a survey by TalentLMS and Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), 76% of the employees would stay with an organization that continuously invests in their training and development.

If I have to be entirely logical about bringing down the employee turnover rate, I’d say that the stats speak for themselves. Instead of breaking down the reasons for the high employee churn rate or thinking of ways to retain them, investing in their training and development will help you build a bridge that connects the employees with the organization.

2. L&D Fills In The Multi generational Employee Gap

The US workforce is diverse. Especially, the workforce comprises multigenerational employees who come from different backgrounds, age groups, and perspectives. So, it becomes vividly important for the HR department to bind them all together.

Now, you might wonder how the L&D can fill in the multi-generational gap within the workforce and I’ll tell you how: When people from different backgrounds work remotely and towards one goal, not only are their work habits different but also their learning habits

So, enabling the training and development of a workforce of different backgrounds is extremely important and one of the key tasks of the HR department.

The multigenerational workforce looks like this:

Baby Boomers: 1946–1964

Generation X: 1965–1980

Millennials: 1981-1996

Generation Z: After 1996

Their learning habits also differ because the baby boomers have more experience than the rest of the age group while the  NewGen or GenZ are more adaptive to new changes and can learn anything new in minutes.

So, creating engaging content that hooks the attention of all of them is necessary. Having a dedicated L&D team that creates video training materials, course lessons, and product walkthroughs by understanding what the employees (read: their audience) are looking for, can do more wonders for your business.

This makes it easy for you to bring the employees closer to each other and also make them understand the product/service better.

3. Consistent Deliverability

Making L&D a part of your business comes a full circle—right from binding the employees together to making the work deliverability consistent. Every organization is built on employees’ talents and the great work they chip in. So, giving them access to constant upskilling and reskilling will put them in a spot where they can outdo their best.

Because even great minds need to be fed with new information every once in a while. When you invest in the L&D teams, they help your employees to learn faster and deliver better results.

However, this isn’t a one-off thing.

Hosting a webinar once and not regularly helping them with learning things that can make their work easier will only stall the progress. The formula goes like this:

skills and training

The investment in the learning and development department brings a better ROI in the form of improved and desired results.

Now, the results do not stop just here. The next point is all that your business needs…

4. Increased Customer Satisfaction

You might’ve already guessed it by the end of the previous paragraph (if you haven’t skimmed it already, haha) By results, I meant that whatever the KRAs you have for your business periodically.

At the same time, a well-executed training program by the L&D team can lead to customer satisfaction. To get into the nitty-gritty of it, here is how the training materials are directly mapped to the output:

Sales enablement content serves as the go-to material for everyone—from new joinee to the star salespeople—on the sales team to refer to while they are on the edge of their seats to get the deals closed.

sales enablement

Now, you can understand the picture more clearly. The L&D team creates content that helps the team outperform themselves consistently so that they serve their best to the customers. Found the starting point? Yes, it all starts with upskilling and of course reskilling of the employees.

5. Building Your Employer Brand

Now, this is not always a direct correlation between creating a kind of video that builds your employer’s brand. But before we draw a conclusion on this, let me tell you this—You can build your employer brand by:

  • Creating the “Life at your organization” kind of videos
  • Repurposing the employee onboarding videos into YouTube videos to attract new talents
  • Create more employee-generated videos
  • Share your small, significant, over-the-roof wins with the world

While all of this helps you build the employer brand directly, creating stunning learning materials and training employees to give their best, adds more credibility to your brand. This could be a qualitative measure of how people outside the company perceive it.

For example, if your employees, who are backed by an L&D share it with their connections on professional social networking sites like LinkedIn, it builds your employer’s brand, without you putting an additional effort into it.

Okay, Now What?

I’ve given you the reasons why prioritizing the Learning and Development department in your business—no matter what is the size of your organization—here are some actionable steps for you:

  • Start building a team

Just like the Marketing, HR, and Technical team in your company, the L & D team can sprout from the right start if you can identify the right leader for your organization.

  • Give them the right toolkit

One of the reasons why many small to medium-sized organizations refrain from developing L&D content is that they think it’s expensive to hire a team/agency and tools to execute it. While this is partly true, this is 2022 and there is an easy-to-use alternative for everything in the world and SaaS is no exemption.

With tools like Vmaker Author, anybody in your team can develop the training material within a day or two. All they need is subject-matter expertise. Not only does it save you from burning your pockets on expensive tools, but also does help you save a lot of time.

If you want to know more about creating video-based learning materials on Vmaker, we’re just a call away. Book a demo now.

The Hybrid working culture also modifies the learning habits. Here’s how: https://www.vmaker.com/blog/hybrid-working-culture-also-modifies-the-learning-habits/ https://www.vmaker.com/blog/hybrid-working-culture-also-modifies-the-learning-habits/#respond Sun, 31 Jul 2022 15:02:03 +0000 https://www.vmaker.com/blog/?p=13889 Everyone who has stepped foot in the corporate world and never stepped back from it would know this: Many organizations worldwide are shifting their working model to hybrid.

Hybrid work culture is when the employees can opt to work for a particular period of time/number of days per week in the office and the rest from home or anywhere they wish to.

Organizations across the globe have gone hybrid. This has not only shifted the way people work but also the way employees learn

And in this blog, I’ll walk you through how the hybrid work culture has modified the learning habits of the employees and how the L&D teams can contribute to the employees and the organization’s growth.

Here we go…

Tune Along To The Changing Learning Habits

When I started brainstorming for this blog there was one quote that stood out to me. The quote below summarizes how the L&D teams ought to cater to their audience.

learning habits

objective of most of the training programs.
Now, to tie this up with the changing learning habits in the hybrid environment, let me brush up a good old technique that the L&D world has always followed. The 70-20-10 model created in the 1980s might not be in vogue as people give more importance to learning from the subject matter experts.

importance to learning

Paying attention to how people learn during the hybrid work culture brings clarity to how the learning habits of the workforce across the spectrum are changing!

how the learning habits of the workforce

In the new normal,

  • 50% of knowledge comes from the experience people gain in their work – Experimental learning
  • 40% from the formal training that the organization arranges – Formal Learning
  • while the rest, 10% comes from peer-to-peer learning – Social or peer-to-peer learning

Especially for the Gen-Z entering the workforce for the first time, peer-to-peer learning is the least-accessible form of learning. We’ll discuss that later in the blog.

Creating content that engages people of different ages, backgrounds, and experience levels is the key to building an empowered workforce. Understanding the differences in the workspace brings us to the next, but the most important of this discussion…

Experiment With Content and The Content Formats

Before every nook and corner of the corporate world got digitized, the go-to content format of the L&D teams was PPTs and PDFs. Although text-based learning is still the first preferred way of learning for many, it might not be the case for the employees working hybrid.

More than the hybrid working model, the year we live in counts. Ever since the world turned to the remote-first working environment, we started giving more importance to visual content. And this can’t be entirely blamed on the pandemic as we, human beings are naturally, visual learners.

So, creating content in different formats can be the first best thing that the L&D teams can do for the employees.

To state some examples:

  • Instead of creating a PPT on employee training, Do’s and Don’ts, people to contact, and so on, the L&D team can spice the content by combining the instructor-led videos along with the animations in between. There are multiple types of training videos you can try to make it more interesting for the audience. Since such training is important but is also new for the employees, an LMS with interactive surveys or feedback forms will help them ask questions or add comments while watching these videos.
  • Product training videos need not only to be boring screen recording videos. Instead, with a tool like Vmaker Train, you can create amazing product tutorial videos with a blend of instructor-led screen record videos and animations that explain the specific features.

Creating videos not only helps you convey more information in less time but also helps you analyze and understand the employee engagement. This gives you an insight on what to deliver in the next course.

Shift Your Focus To The NewGen Workforce

The working model is not the only one changing but the coworkers sitting next to you as well! It’s 2022, and the early hatchers of Gen-Z are entering the corporate workforce—a thirst to learn, execute, fail, and redo everything all over again.

With the new gen coming in, the energy and dynamics of the workplace change, too. However, if your organization is operating in the hybrid model, you might have to walk carefully past this slippery road. Don’t worry, we got you!

Research shows that by 2025, 27% of the workforce will be Gen-Z workers. So, creating content that they would love to learn from is crucial. Although the corporate world believes that people learn something in accordance with the 70-20-10 rule, Gen-Z could be an exception for it. They’re new to the workforce. They enter the corporate world during the time it’s neck-deep into the hybrid working mode.

So, if Gen-Z has to learn a new skill or brush off their existing skills, they seek learning materials. Although they learn while they work, they would definitely require the L&D team’s help as well.

Especially, the L&D teams need to magnify their attention to creating the content that the newgen would love—crisp, visually appealing, and attention grabbing. Although this is something that employees of all age groups would love, keeping the newgen in mind is crucial because they’re the future of the workforce and they do really bring new perspectives to the existing workplace.

Because catering to the workforce which contains people of all age groups, who have been through different kinds of experiences is not easy! That’s finding the sweet spot of content that’s loved by all age groups is the starting point.

Although we’re slowly getting used to the hybrid work environment, we need to pay attention to the changes happening in the way we work, we learn, and communicate along the way.

5 Reasons Why Creating Videos Will Pump Up The Employee Engagement Rate https://www.vmaker.com/blog/5-reasons-why-creating-videos-will-pump-up-the-employee-engagement-rate/ https://www.vmaker.com/blog/5-reasons-why-creating-videos-will-pump-up-the-employee-engagement-rate/#respond Thu, 28 Jul 2022 13:54:58 +0000 https://www.vmaker.com/blog/?p=13824 Remember the time when you had to carry around the cash to shop for anything and if you run out of it, you had to return home without completing the shopping?

Remember the time when fuel prices or hikes never bothered you?

Remember the time when you had to make an ISD call and not just Facetime people?

A vague memory, right?

That’s exactly when organizations also used PDFs or held in-person conferences to train their employees. Gradually, they are now switching to videos. However, the shift might cost a fortune for the organizations with no deep pockets, so they are still on the fence.

Because they think that switching to videos will be highly expensive and require more human resources. In reality, it’s the opposite of all that and videos only amp up the employee engagement rate.

So, here we’ll discuss the hows, whys, and everything in between!

1. Videos Give You Higher ROI Than Any Other Content Format

Earlier, creating videos was only the experts’ task as it took a lot to create a simple 10-minute training video. From a studio-type setup to begin shooting the video to finding the pro editors to deliver on time, video creation was not everyone’s piece of cake.

So, most of the L&D team tilted towards the once easier option—PDFs. But not anymore!

It’s 2022 and with the easy-to-use tools in the market, there’s no limit to the kind of videos you can create. Also, video creation does not take as much time as it used to!

  • Workplace learning videos can be as simple as a screen recording or animation video
  • Even if the organization decides to create instructor-led videos, they are not difficult with advanced webcam recorders like Vmaker
  • The videos allow you to track and analyze the employees’ learning behavior (We’ll talk more about this in the next section)

So, when the toolkit is advanced and user-friendly, both creation and consumption are easy and yield results.

Creating videos with Vmaker Author takes you minutes and not hours. All you need to do is to decide on the type of video you want to create and hit the record button.

2. Interactive Learning Improves Employee Engagement

When you introduce video-based learning to your employees, you notice a spike in their involvement, engagement, and even information retention. This is because human brains process visual information 60,000 times more quickly than text content.

When it comes to workplace learning, helping your employees make time to sit for every training you schedule periodically is an uphill task. So, if you stack over 30 pages of PDFs or invite for in-person training might not turn fruitful. Moreover, recent studies from the SAVO group project that employees forget about 65% of the training content within the first 7 days post the training.

So, if you do not want all the efforts from both the L & D team and the employees to go in vain, then switching to interactive videos—which keep them hooked from the beginning to the end—is one of the best solutions.

Creating a 5 min log video and uploading it on the corporate YouTube channel is so in the past. With advanced LMS tools like Vmaker Train, one can add interactive elements like quizzes, polls, and even questions in between the videos. The video below shows you a sneak peek of how effortlessly you can make your videos interactive.

This creates an impact that the employees are not only passive listeners but also active participants.

3. Easy To Measure The Effectiveness of the Content Created

The second most important reason why videos get an edge over any other content format is that they can be tracked and analyzed. (However, the first important reason will always be the interactivity that videos offer)

A few ways how you can leverage the advantage of videos & analytics:

  • Track the number of times a single employee has watched a video
  • Use the heatmaps from Vmaker Train and analyze the most watched part of the video and even the most skipped part of the video
  • Download, quantify, and analyze the assessments of the video within the LMS suite.

With Vmaker Train, you can get to the granular details on a single dashboard.

But you might ask why quantifying the effectiveness of the content delivered is important. If that question sprouted in your mind as well, that’s because—access to extensive analytics helps the L&D teams to understand their learners better and rewire their strategy to deliver more impactful content later on.

4. Videos Connect With All Spectrum Of Employees

Again, educating the employees is the core reason why organizations create content. Now, with GenZ entering the workforce and the millennials already making more than 35% of the US workforce shows us how diversified the workplace can get.

Millennials born from 1981 to 1996 and the GenZ born after 1996 are nowhere similar. Although the millennials have a lot more experience than the GenZ, the new gen in the workforce does not lag. More than 67% of the GenZ employees have responded to a survey saying they will work for companies that enable them to learn skills to advance their careers.

Now, the intersection between engaging both generations of employees with different working experiences is simple—employee engagement. To satisfy that, the organization has to deliver content that does not alienate the Millennials and also serves the content that GenZ is more used to.

This is exactly where videos fall in!

5. Repurposing Video Content Is Easier Than You Think

Repurposing the video content to build the employer brand—how does this sound? We say it’s the smart move to go that extra mile and make the best use of the training videos created for the employees.

But before you ask us — Yes, every training video material or the content that the L&D team creates is only for internal purposes. But the clever organizations around the world also leverage the content to their advantage.

An onboarding training video could’ve been a 15-page long PDF that people wouldn’t have bothered to read. But when the teams put in all the efforts to create a video, they can be skillfully repurposed.
For example, this video of the Hubspot Product Team could’ve been a part of the employee onboarding video series to introduce the “Life at Hubspot” side of it.

However, publishing this on YouTube gives an insider view of diversity, work culture, everyday conversations, and such for its audience as well—this is how the organizations build the employer brand as building blocks.

So, videos created for the employees can be repurposed into other platforms like social media, email marketing, and even landing pages as well.

A Quick Glance…

There’s no one way to pump up employee engagement in the workplace. So trying multiple content formats and types can help you build a better relationship with them. We’ve given you the long way short—which appeals to the right audience, right parts of the human brain, and also caters to the diversified workplace.

5 HR Trends To Catch Up On In 2023 & Beyond https://www.vmaker.com/blog/5-hr-trends-to-catch-up/ https://www.vmaker.com/blog/5-hr-trends-to-catch-up/#respond Thu, 14 Jul 2022 16:12:12 +0000 https://www.vmaker.com/blog/?p=13677 The Human Resources department’s work does not only end after onboarding a new employee, showing around the office, doing some paperwork, and saying, “We’re happy to have you on board”. It expands up and beyond that.

From dealing with the employees’ payroll to exit interviews, HR is the employee’s person. But their presence and contribution are equally essential in everything in between. In 2021, 4 million Americans quit their jobs, making the great resignation the topic of many corporate-related articles, news media, etc. The work of the HR department is to help the employees throughout, so that they don’t look at the path to exit.

In this article, we’ve created a list of 5 trends that every HR should pick up and add as a feature to their cap in order to encourage, retain, and reward the employees they’ve onboarded.

Tl; Dr

  1. Embrace hybrid work modal
  2. Make communication easier
  3. Invest in their upskilling programs
  4. Prioritize the workforce’s mental well-being
  5. Focus on employee retention

Now, let’s get to how HRs can help create a better workplace and retain the best talents they’ve hired in the first place.

1. Embrace Hybrid Work Model

Hybrid work culture is not new to the corporate world but still, it has been in vogue and on every employee’s mind ever since the pandemic hit. So, as an HR the thumb rule is to let the hybrid culture thrive if the team has been making progress in the past couple of years.

Finding the intersection matters here. Is your team delivering as promised? Does your workforce prefer a hybrid working model? Is your team comfortable with the pay scale and other benefits you’re offering? Are your employees as productive as they are in the office?

If your answer is yes and the results they bring to the table also prove the same then the hybrid work model has been working out for you and will continue to!

However, the hybrid work model is not everything synonymous with a “remote-first” work environment but with “flexibility”. So, if your organization does not involve sit-in-your-desk-all-day kind of jobs, then you can offer flexible work opportunities—a hybrid work model—like Lyft announced. The policy is simple yet effective—where people can choose “where” they want to work from. Sometimes, a hybrid work model might demand a schedule for the rest of the teams to follow but as Lyft mentioned in one of its recent blogs, “a flexible workplace strikes the right balance between trust and choice — helping us do our best work while attracting and retaining top talent.”

The best example is Spotify’s new policy called “Work From Anywhere”. Since it allowed its 6,500 employees to work from anywhere in the world, the employee turnover rate was 15% lower in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same quarter in 2019.

Takeaway? Put your employees first!

2. Make Communication Easier

Every employee in the world loves to be heard. Everyone wants to feel like their opinion matters. So, as an HR—no matter which designation you’re in—you can create an environment that’s welcoming and comfortable for your employees to open up.

The doors to communication should not open during the time of adversity, but on a normal sunny day, too. In 2022, when people look for organizations that value human beings, it’s wise to treat employees the way they want to be treated.

Minor alterations can open the doors of communication like never before. If everyone in the office is working remotely, then organizing monthly offline events, throwing random pizza parties, or sending flowers when employees celebrate their work anniversaries with your organization are such tender gestures—which in turn boost the employer-employee relationship and strengthen the bond. In short, go a step ahead and make your employees feel heard, seen, and welcomed.

3. Invest In Their Upskilling & Reskilling Programs

Organizations grow as their employees grow. Also, the employees want to stick around with the company that invests in their growth as much as the employees work for the betterment of the organization. This is exactly why 76% of employees agree that they’re most likely to stay with a company that offers continuous training.

Investing in your employees’ upskilling need not be an uphill task and so is making it intriguing. If the employee training program is not as exciting as the rest of the content the internet has to offer, there are plenty of reasons for your employees to not complete reading them. So, pick a content format that appeals to your employees across all age groups and looks at the difference in the content consumption rate.

You can start by creating simple training videos. Although every MNC has a dedicated L&D team, the content created by them is often less engaging.

So, the HRs of today can take the route less taken—invest in DIY L&D tools like Vmaker which can help you create content without any professional help. Not only do these DIY video content creation tools like Vmaker Train make things easier for the L&D teams, but they do also reduce the money spent on multiple legacy apps.

4. Prioritize the employees’ mental well-being

Saying “Mental Health Matters” and hosting a special webinar on the mental health day is not the actual way of prioritizing mental health. In short, it’s as good as watering a dead plant. Instead, the HR teams can implement new changes to the schedule or practices that bring the most burnout to the employees.

Taking an extra step like Amazon’s No Meeting Friday or No Meeting But Memo can help the employees feel relaxed at work.

The most important aspect here that the HR teams need to understand is that being busy does not equal being productive. So, cutting back on meetings, extending the sports time, and organizing regular offline happy office hours can refresh the team for the better.

However, helping your employees create boundaries at work is one of the ultimate forms of support you can offer. For example, the new policy update that Rand Fishkin from SparkToro has tweeted stands true. Their Mission, cleverly formed acronym—BELUX—starts with Boundaries. As Rand Fishkin mentioned in this blog, the support team has not to be “available” for a demo call all the time. The team can create a bunch of product demo videos and share them with the customers. The FAQs are addressed and the employees are burnt out in the process.

It’s 2022, more than 2 years into the pandemic and by now, we know that mental health is not a one-day drama but a compounding effect of how every day looks like for the employees.

5. Focus on Employee Retention

With the world recession in sight, the corporate workforce is looking for a safety net. However, it does not mean that people stop looking for new jobs, or companies stop hiring for more open positions. So, preserving the talent that you’ve already hired is the key here.

Remember, employee retention > new hires.

Although the common understanding—the unwritten rules of the corporate world — is that the role of HR starts with hiring talents and ends at the exit interview but does not appear in any scene in between.

There’s a reason why believing in this is nothing but a herd mentality—The Human Resource team needs to make efforts in every stage of the hiring process, employee onboarding, upskilling programs, performance improvement program, performance review, and much more.

While being the bridge between the employees and management, the HR team can strengthen the bond while also increasing the employee retention rate and making the attrition rate go south.

Although finding replacements is tougher, retaining the existing workforce does not come easy. Providing what your employees are looking for—additional benefits, child healthcare, and evaluating the compensation packages as per employee talents and contributions gives your workforce a reason to not look for them in other employers.

Concluding Thoughts…

If the organizations check all the boxes of the first four points mentioned above, then they have already given many reasons for the employees to stay.

Although these are the things that every HR team should prioritize around the clock, 2023 could be a significant year to double stress on these because the job market is becoming more employee-centric while employees tilt towards people-centric organizations.

In 2022, brands becoming more humanized is not enough but the organizations behind them becoming more human-centric is.
